Before we get into the game day thread, I went digging through the archives at the Battle of Ontario for my Halloween post that came during the senators coronation as the 2008 Stanley Cup Champions. It's great for a laugh because I predicted, when the sens were at their best, that their season would end in ridiculous amounts of pain.
Anyway, on to tonight's game.
The Capitals are on the brink of being on the brink. They need something special to get them going. They need...a motivational speech! These worked pretty good at first for the Leafs this year so here's a special one for this series courtesy of Sean Connery:
Malone: You said you wanted to get the Flyers. Do you really wanna get them? You see what I'm saying is, what are you prepared to do?
Bruce Boudreau: Anything within the rules.
Malone: And then what are you prepared to do? If you open the can on these worms you must be prepared to go all the way. Because they're not gonna give up the fight, until one of you is eliminated.
Bruce Boudreau: I want to get the Flyers! I don't know how to do it.
Malone: You wanna know how to get the Flyers? They rub you out along the boards, you hit them in open ice. They run your goalie, you send Brashear into Biron. That's the Playoff way! And that's how you get the Flyers. Now do you want to do that? Are you ready to do that? I'm offering you a deal. Do you want this deal?
Bruce Boudreau: I have sworn to eliminate this team with all of the coaching powers at my disposal and I will do so.
Malone: Well, the Lord hates a coward...and Jurcina and Erskine.
[jabs Boudreau with his hand, and Boudreau shakes it]
Malone: Do you know what a blood oath is, Mr. Boudreau?
Bruce Boudreau: Yes.
Malone: Good, 'cause you just took one.
There you go Capitals. You want to win? It's time to man up. No more shying away from contact or disappearing on every shift you have ever played in the playoffs (Kozlov!) or watching the goon Flyers run over your tender. The referees are not going to protect you! MAN UP!
