Canada vs. USA
8 p.m. ET at Bell Centre, Montreal
Watch on: SN, SN+, TVAS, ABC, ESPN+, Fubo, Hulu

Format

This tournament is very simple. Each team plays the three other teams once, and points are awarded in a three-point system that will be familiar to all PWHL fans and matches the system used in IIHF games.

3 points for a win in regulation time; 2 points for a win in overtime/shootout; 1 point for a loss in overtime/shootout; and 0 points for a loss in regulation time

The two teams with the most points play off in a one-game final. A tie would be broken by the head-to-head result.

This is an NHL event using the NHL rulebook and NHL referees. The exception is overtime rules:

Overtime is 10 minutes of three-on-three in the round robin followed by a shootout if necessary. The championship game will have NHL playoff-style overtime if necessary and no shootout.

Canada

If Makar (illness) can't go tonight, then Thomas Harley will fill in for him. Tampa's coach, Jon Cooper, has gone with an all-Tampa line with Hagel, Cirelli, and Point. Sam Bennett has come in for Travis Konecny. Travis Sanheim has already replaced the injured Shea Theodore.

Your choice who the first line is, but Mitch Marner of your Toronto Maple Leafs is in the top six.

USA

The American team have put the Tkachuk brothers together, centred by Jack Eichel. This has put Kyle Connor all the way down to the fourth line. Larkin moved up from the fourth to the third to play with Miller and Boldy.

Auston Matthews of your Toronto Maple Leafs centres the top line with Guentzel and Hughes. He will get booed by the fans for being a Toronto player in Montreal and I would expect no less. His anthem will likely get booed, too, and I will equally not be expecting less. Giver, Montreal.

The Game

If Canada wins in regulation, they will lead the standings going into the last games on Monday.

If Canada wins in overtime, they and the USA will be tied for first.

If Canada loses in overtime they will be one point up on Sweden and Finland.

If they lose in regulation, then the USA will win the round robin and Canada will need to get a better result against the Finns than the Swedes do against the Americans on Monday.
