This week we made it into the top 10 of the list, an area that used to mean NHLer for sure. Does it still?

Official Vote

This part of the vote is where you will start to see more frequent big jumps in weighted average ranking as the names at the top always have more consensus in votes.

12 Artur Akhtyamov

Almost tied with Alex Steeves (who was 1.43 points higher than number 14), Akhtyamov comes in at 13.43.

Time for goalie talk.

11 Roni Hirvonen

Hirvonen is not much higher in weighted average at 13.14.

2024 T25U25: Roni Hirvonen is #11
But he’s not mystically linked to Topi Niemelä.

10 Noah Chadwick

Taking a big jump, Noah Chadwick is at 11.57 in weighted ranking.

Who is he, really?

9 Miroslav Holinka

Nearly tied with number 10, Holinka comes in at 11.21 dramatically higher than on the Community Vote where he was 20th. This is the player about which there is the most disagreement between the two votes.

One of Toronto’s newest prospects seems like their biggest swing on upside and skill from the most recent draft, and debuts very high on our rankings this year as a result.

8 Topi Niemelä

And the biggest jump of all in the official vote ranking, Niemelä leaps up to 8.79. That usually means, whether people were aware of it or not, he was a boundary player that voters moved others below. But as we'll see next week that phenomenon is spread across the next two on the list as well.

A second season in the AHL is ahead for the Finnish defender.

Community Vote

12 Artur Aktyamov

Very nearly unanimously ranked, Artur Aktyamov comes in on this vote the same place he did on the Official Vote. He has a weighted average here of 13.61 and a high consensus in the actual number he's ranked at.

11 Roni Hirvonen

Another match in ranking spot has Hirvonen at 13.17, almost tied with Akhtyamov as with the Official Vote.

10 Cade Webber

Showing four places higher on this vote, Cade Webber has an average ranking of 12.62.

This is a much less strong consensus vote than the prior two, with a low y-axis and a wide spread in where rankings fall. No one is very sure about this player in either vote.

9 Alex Steeves

Higher than on the Official Vote, a lot of people do seem to believe there is a guy ready for the NHL in some capacity here. His average rank is 11.36, marking a jump up from number 10.

A very strong consensus opinion with a long tail to the right showing the small cadre of doubters.

8 Nikita Grebenkin

With a very large leap up to a ranking of 9.85, Grebenkin takes the role played by Niemelä in the official vote as a boundary player.

There's some trailing off of doubters/noise in this vote, but note the y-axis and the intense consensus that Grebenkin belongs in the five to ten range. A very small amount less of the doubting and he'd be in next week's set like he is on the Official Vote.

People believe in Greb.

Next week is a short week with the holiday, and we'll be ranking seven through four. See you Tuesday!
