Captains for each division were voted on by the fans, while the rest of the rosters were filled out by the league.
This is Andersen’s first All-Star nomination in seven seasons. Despite having the lowest save percentage of his career (.914, which he also accomplished in 2014-15), Andersen first in the NHL in wins and shots against, as well as second in games started. Andersen has a -2.73 goals saved above expected this season.
Matthews will be attending his fourth All-Star Game. Matthews has been legitimately amazing this year, posting 26 goals and 20 assists in 40 games, which means he is on pace to crack 50 goals for the first time in his career. Matthews is eighth in even strength points (30).
The All-Star teams were released by individual teams this year, so here is the full list compiled by members of the NHL media mailing list.

Here is the Atlantic Division team Andersen and Matthews will be playing with in the 3v3 tournament:
F: Tyler Bertuzzi, Anthony Duclair, Jack Eichel, Jonathan Huberdeau, Auston Matthews, David Pastrnak (C)
D: Victor Hedman, Shea Weber
G: Frederik Andersen, Tuukka Rask
In order to give fans some feeling like they played a part in this venture, the NHL has released the names for voting in the “Last Man In”. There will be no write-in candidates and the players on the last “man” in lists are suspiciously more marketable than the likes of Tyler Bertuzzi.
Voting for the Last Men In opens Wednesday, Jan. 1, at 12 p.m. ET and closes Friday, Jan. 10, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
