First they recall Federik Gauthier from the Marlies this afternoon, and now the Maple Leafs are sending centre Eric Fehr to the Anaheim Ducks affiliate, the San Diego Gulls.
The @MapleLeafs announced today that the hockey club has reassigned forward Eric Fehr to the San Diego Gulls (AHL) from the @TorontoMarlies (AHL). #TMLtalk

The Gulls as losing bodies quickly as the Anaheim Ducks are under a dark cloud of injury right now and need some veteran help. The Maple Leafs put Fehr on waivers a couple weeks ago, but he went unclaimed. Now the Ducks have some filler for their AHL team without losing a contract spot.
With the Marlies losing Gauthier and not getting Fehr, their current centre depth looks like this:
Adam Brooks
Miro Aaltonen
Colin Greening
Chris Mueller
Keeping Fehr off the Marlies is an odd move, but it may get him more ice time than he would in Toronto as the Leafs look to develop and play their younger centres.
This move is perhaps the reason for the non-answers that Mike Babcock gave earlier today when talking about the centres, that you can read about here.
Fehr had played four NHL games for the Maple Leafs this season so far scoring no points.
