It's been 10 nights since the first game of this series started in Tampa, and tonight the series returns for game 5. Having two consecutive nights off has fogged my memory a bit, so let's review how we got here.
Game 1: Chicago wins 2-1. This was a strong start for Chicago, and had a lot of people nodding their heads that the Bolts would be destroyed in just 4 or 5 games.
Game 2: Tampa bounces back with a 4-3 win. With the game tied at 3 in the third, Patrick Sharp took two dumb penalties, the second only seconds after stepping out of the box from the first. Tampa scored the game winning goal on the second power play. The real story was about what the hell was wrong with Ben Bishop who left the game, returned, then left again. There was no explanation from the Lightning.
Game 3: Tampa wins 3-2. Bishop is back, and some wonder if he is playing through an injury. At times it looks like he is. By the third period even a casual fan could tell he was having trouble, once time collapsing on the ice and taking 30 seconds to get back up, but he stayed in net all the way to the end for the win.
Game 4: Chicago wins 2-1. Andrei Vasilevskiy starts in net for Tampa replacing Bishop whose exact injury is still not clear. This was a back and forth game with very low SOG totals.
And that brings us to game 5. We still don't know if Bishop will be starting in net tonight, or even what his exact injury is.
2015 Stanley Cup Final: On Ben Bishop, Andrei Vasilevskiy, what is, and what ought to be - Raw Charge
The story of the 2014-15 Tampa Bay Lightning has largely been written with Ben Bishop as a main character. In spite of all better judgement, letting that story end with Bishop in a main role is ultimately fitting.
