First Period
The first six-minutes-plus were all Florida, in the Leafs end with more "not quite cleared" hacks at the puck by the Leafs than anyone should have to watch.

The next five minutes were somehow more, just more everything. Some Leafs zone time which was almost more tension-filled. Somehow.

Good shift from the Laughton line. And then more and more chances, more and more Bobrovsky saves.

Steven Lorentz with a not exactly great shot. Next time, okay?
another great sequence for the fourth line starting with Chris Tanev

Toronto (Chris Tanev) took a too many men penalty late in the first.
Great PK for one minute. Good enough for the second minute.
After one it was zero-zero. Oh, and 150/90.

Second Period
Very unfortunate and scary play where referee Chris Rooney was hurt badly by a high-stick. Hoping it was just a cut to his forehead.
oh no

NHL sent out an update that Chris Rooney received stitches for a cut above his eye — not in it, thankfully — and is doing well
Seth Jones opened the scoring.

No ability by the Leafs in this period to control the puck. They're being legitimately outplayed. No matter how many phantom penalties people want called, that fact doesn't change.
The Corsi was 30-6 Florida late in the third. The lineup was in flux, but even the guy doing that had to know it was too late and putting Pontus Holmberg wherever wasn't the answer.
The Leafs had nothing to offer. I don't now and have never bought the grievance that they "don't show up" but they haven't got enough tools as a group to contend here. Like Washington didn't against Carolina. Or the Jets against Dallas.
Florida scored but it was called no-goal. They came back harder.

After two it was 3-0. Worst period of the year, given the stakes.
Third Period
Was there any life left in the team? There was.
Max Domi on the ice with William Nylander, and Domi was finally rewarded for his very good game.

A tip in front of Woll is the dagger in the heart. Brad Marchand.

4-1 Florida
Only bad play from Woll.
Someone scored to make it 5-1 Florida.
Marchand with the ENG made it 6-1 Florida.
And then at last, mercifully, it was over.
Next game is in October, give or take.
