This afternoon Nick Kypreos at Sportsnet reported that JvR will likely not return for the rest of the season.
Rehab set back has #Leafs van Riemsdyk likely done for rest of season. 100% full recovery expected for the fall.

At this point it is still not clear what his exact injury is (UPDATE: it's a "non-displaced fracture in his left foot"), and how it has been aggravated, but I swear I had nothing to do with it!
There was some speculation he could be traded away by Monday's deadline, but the fact he can no longer even help a team for a playoff run means, if The Leafs do indeed wish to trade him, it will almost certainly not be until after the Stanley Cup Final.
From the limited information available, it sounds like he will be ready to play for the start of the 2016-17 NHL season, but it is unclear if he will be able to join Team USA for the World Cup of Hockey in September.
JvR had 14 goals and 15 assists in the 40 games he played this season before his injury.
If you would like to send him well wishes, please prepare some of his favourite pasta casserole, Power Play Penne, and send it to:
