Today, the Maple Leafs announced that James van Riemsdyk has a non-displaced fracture in his left foot, and will be out for 6-8 weeks for recovery and rehabilitation. The team has not said whether this injury was sustained during the recent 7-0 loss to the San Jose Sharks.

Leafs announce JVR will miss up to two months with a broken foot.
JvR has been a cornerstone of the Leafs lineup. In 40 games played, he's contributed 29 points (14G/15A), playing on the second line with Tyler Bozak and PA Parentau.
It is not yet clear how this will impact his eligibility to be traded. Typically players on injured reserve cannot be traded without their consent. Given the duration of his injury, JvR may be out beyond the end of February trade deadline.
Left wing Toronto Marlies player Josh Leivo will enter the lineup in his absence. Leivo has played nine games with the Leafs in the 2014-2015 season, contributing one goal in those games. With the Marlies this year, he's contributed 30 points (11G/19A) in 35 games played, and has accrued 10 penalty minutes.
One reason Leivo might have received the call-up ahead of Morin: Leivo's waiver exempt. Morin's not.
